Bio/Description

I received a B.A. in Classical Civilization with a minor in Latin from the University of Michigan (2023, highest honors). My senior thesis, “Deciphering an Enigma: Maecenas and Gender Nonconformity,” argued that Maecenas’ atypical gender presentation is central to understanding his literary persona and self-fashioning. It challenged modern scholars to foreground his gender when studying his place in Roman political and literary history. After graduating, I worked as a substitute teacher at a local high school.

As of the fall of 2024, I am the department’s Pre-Doctoral Fellow. I am primarily interested in Roman cultural history, Latin poetry, and queer theory. Recently, I have become fascinated by the intersection of gender and religion. Outside of Classics, I am passionate about advocating for LBGTQ+ rights and aiding fellow first-generation students in navigating academia.
