Bio
I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with an Honors BA in Classical Languages and Literature in 2021. My senior thesis argues that in the Medicamina, Amores, and Ars amatoria, Ovid manipulates the concepts of cultus (“cultivation,” “grooming”) and ars (“skill”) to attempt to influence women’s economic and sexual activity and, ultimately, “sell” his poetry as a commodity on the luxury market.
For the last two years, however, I’ve been immersed in the worlds of content marketing and social media while working full-time for an insurance technology startup.
As I return to the academy and begin my PhD at Princeton this fall, I am broadly interested in Augustan poetry, imperial trade and expansion, and how literature does (or doesn’t) help us perceive the experiences of ancient women.
