Grace DeAngelis

Bio/Description

Born and raised in (and around) Chicago, in 2023 I graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a BA in Classics. I received departmental honors for my senior thesis, in which I examined issues of genre alongside the motifs of pregnancy and the lunar calendar in Ovid's Fasti.

In addition to genre, my research interests include the intersection of literature and lived reality. I enjoy synthesizing material and textual evidence to explore how an author’s work reflects his sociopolitical and material environment. As a Latinist, I work mostly on literary texts but appreciate and often venture into the world of epigraphy; I’m especially partial to calendars of all kinds. When not in Firestone or East Pyne, I can likely be found practicing yoga, checking out fiction from the public library, or wandering the shelves of an antiquarian bookstore.
